Daily Use

As far as how easy it is to use, the HV322 has some great features making it very easy to handle and use on a regular basis when you compare it with other best-selling vacuums.

First, it’s very lightweight. At only 7.5 pounds, it’s less than half the weight of a full-sized Dyson, so there is no way it will hurt your wrists or shoulders pushing and pulling it around. It also incorporates swivel steering, making it even easier to handle.

Emptying the dust cup is just as easy, since the container on this bagless model is completely removable. It still opens with one hand over the trash, but being able to remove it from the base model entirely means you can also rinse it out if you really want to keep it clean. As with most of the best vacuums on the market today, the Rocket TruePet also has washable filters, which save you money over time.

One of the things we like best about it is that it has a quick-release foot pedal to remove the cleaner head. You’ll want to do this if you plan on using it as a handheld but also if you want to use it as a handheld with the long extension wand still attached. Just press the foot pedal, the cleaner head pops off, and you can attack those dust webs in the corner of the ceiling with ease.

While it does come with an accessory bag, there are clips on board where you can store 2 of the tools that are included. While it would be nice to be able to carry them all around, it would make the unit heavier and more unwieldy, so just pick the two you think you’ll be using, and you’re set to go.

As far as power, it has 2 speeds with 500 watts of power, so it works just as well on carpet, area rugs, and bare floors. The addition of LED headlights makes it easy to see where you’re going as well.

Pet Hair

In short, people who bought the Shark Ultralight True Pet to deal with cat and dog hair sing its praises in their reviews. One woman says she has a very long-haired cat along with two dogs. And she says it works great and she’d definitely buy it again.

Rocket TruePet vs Rocket Ultralight

These are the same basic machine, but there are some important differences. First, the TruePet has a dirt container twice as big as the regular Ultralight. This unit completely removable, making it easier to empty. It also has clips on board to store 2 of the tools.

The biggest difference is in the accessories. The TruePet comes with tools specifically designed to deal with tough pet hair – whether it’s on upholstery or other fabric, carpets or hardwood floors.

Pros

  • Really easy to handle
  • Great tools for pet hair that work great on drapes and furniture
  • Constant power of a cord (no battery fade like with some cordless models)

Cons

While there’s not much to complain about, in more than one review users have questioned that there is no way to turn off the spinning brush roll. While most users won’t even notice this if you have cat litter or really small bits on hardwood floors. You might find the pieces get flung around before they are sucked up.

Fortunately, Shark thought of this and includes a hard floor tool with the vacuum. All you need to do is detach the powerhead and attach the hard floor tool, and then you have no spinning brush to deal with.

Some users also wish this was a cordless model like the DC59 Animal and Motorhead. While you’ll need to deal with the cord in the TruePet, not everyone thinks it’s a bad thing. First, the cord is 30 feet long, so you won’t need to unplug very often if at all. Also, it means the power will be constant, and the vac is always ready to go without waiting for it to charge.

Consumer Ratings

Overall, user reviews rate this small but powerful vacuum cleaner at 4.5 out of 5 stars. It’s great to have on hand if you have a smaller apartment or house. And you want something lightweight to get the job done quickly. It also does a bang-up job on pet hair.

If you don’t want the inconvenience of a full-sized vacuum and you like the convenience of a corded model with steady power. This NV332 is a really good choice. It rates high and is a very good value for the money.
