If you’re looking for a good all-around vacuum cleaner that can handle daily jobs and even suck up that sticky pet hair, the Hoover Windtunnel 3 Pro Pet is worth a look. It performs extremely well for an inexpensive model and has many features we wouldn’t expect in such an affordable machine.
There are several things we really like about this Hoover Windtunnel Pet. First among them is the cost. It’s hard to find a quality machine with powerful suction for under $$$, especially one that works great on pet hair. For that price, this one is definitely one of the best.

There are several small details incorporated into this vac that really make a difference. For instance, we would expect a most fairly cheap vacuum cleaner to scratch your really high end or nicely finished hardwood floors. This one doesn’t, partly because you can turn off the brush roll with the handy foot pedal. In fact, in one review, one woman says she used to find it faster to use a broom and dustpan to clean her hardwoods because her old vacuum just scattered bits around, but the Windtunnel Pro Pet even picks up kitty litter and the bits of cardboard her cats leave around from their scratching post.
As far as daily use, while this Hoover is a little on the heavy side (just two pounds heavier than the Shark Rotator, though, so not too bad), it is easy to maneuver and push and pull without feeling like you have to fight with it. While it’s not a lightweight, how easy it is to move around is really more important than the weight.
One unexpected but fun feature is the automatic cord rewind. This is the next best thing to having a cordless model like the Hoover Air Cordless, but vacuums like that tend to be more expensive. While a cord rewinder may not seem like a big deal, if you’ve ever had to fight to wind the cord back up after vacuuming your whole house (and who hasn’t?), this is a welcome relief. Just push the button, and the cord gets sucked back up into the vacuum. We love no extra work!
As far as emptying this upright bagless, the dust container opens on the bottom, so all you need to do is push the button over the trash can, and you’re done. To keep the filters clean, just keep your eye on the indicator light, as it tells you when the filters need to be rinsed out.
Power
In one user review, a woman says she cleaned her floor with her 5-year old Dyson, then went back over with this one and was amazed at how much dirt it picked up that the older Dyson had left behind. She also says she just loves the little features like the cord retractor, light on the front and filter indicator light.
Also because of its slightly heavier weight, it has the ability to really get into carpets, even deep pile ones, and with three cyclones, it really digs in to get out the embedded dirt and pet hair that gets ground in over time. It also has a 5-level height adjustment to tackle everything from Berber to deep pile shag carpet.
How is it for allergies?
Usually you have to spend more money to get a vacuum with a HEPA filter, but this one goes one better. It actually has a two-part HEPA filter that incorporates an odor absorbing carbon layer that claims to filter out 99.97% of pollen, mold, dust and dirt as it cleans your floors. This is so important if you or someone in your home suffers from allergies, especially babies or small children that tend to get the sneezes or have a problem with asthma.

Cons
In user reviews, the biggest complaint is that the Hoover Windtunnel 3 is too thick at the base to fit under furniture, especially under the bed. While it doesn’t have a slim profile, it does come with the 10’ extension hose and attachments, and so you may need to use these to get all the way under your furniture.
Final Thoughts
Whether or not you have dogs or cats to pick up after, the Hoover Windtunnel Pro Pet 3 will get your floors clean, and with the variety of powerful attachments, it can do so much more. For well under $200, it’s a really good value for the money, and in consumer ratings, it gets 4.5 out of 5 stars, a truly excellent rating. For this and all the other little details we like, we rate it high and definitely award it a spot on our list of top vacuum cleaners.
While you can’t expect it to perform like a Dyson vacuums or have the slick design and versatility, it’s still a great choice, especially if you’re on a budget. Of course, when you compare them, Dyson costs about 4 times more vs this vac, so for the price, this is definitely one of the best on the market.
