Ease of Use

For daily or weekly use, the Rewind is both easy to use and easy to maintain, and it has some great features to provide value and make your cleanup easier.

First, it has five height settings, meaning you can use it just as easily on hardwood or bare floors to deep pile shag carpeting and everything in between without feeling like you’re fighting with the vacuum to get the floor clean. Even though it’s not a self-propelled unit, as long as you have the height set correctly for the type of floor you’re vacuuming, it’s not difficult to push and pull. The large wheels help to move it along.

Since the bristles are soft in the brush head, it also won’t scratch your hardwood or laminate flooring. They are, however, strong enough to get deep down into carpeting to pull out dust. Just be sure you have the height in the correct setting for maximum efficiency.

As far as tools, it comes with a crevice tool, upholstery and dusting brush, as well as an air, powered hand tool that works well on furniture. These tools are all stored on the unit itself (on-board), so there’s very little chance of them getting lost or not having them when you’re right in the middle of cleaning and need them.

Maintenance

The Hoover UH70120 has a foam filter that is washable along with a HEPA filter that is not. You can wash the foam filter in the sink by hand, then let it dry and put it back in the machine. The HEPA filter should be tapped over the trashcan to remove the dust, and then you can put it back in.

Since this WindTunnel is bagless, it has a clear container that holds all the dust, dirt and debris you clean up. When it’s full (or before), just remove it and press the lever while holding it over the trash, and all the dirt will fall out. If you want it even cleaner, you can rinse it out as well before putting it back in.

Pet Hair Pickup

While this T Series vac isn’t specifically designed for pet hair, it will still pick it up. However, longer hair does tend to get tangled up in the brush roll bristles, and you may need to cut or pull it out. This happens with most vacuums, so the best you can do is buy one where the roller is easy to access so this maintenance job can be done if need be.

If you like the idea of this vacuum cleaner but really need one that is specialized for pet hair pickup, the UH70201 is essentially the same but specialized for that purpose.

Cons

One of the few concerns in user reviews from people who own this Hoover WindTunnel T-Series Rewind is that there is no option to turn off the brush roll. However, more than one user in their review said this doesn’t seem to be a real problem and there are so many other good features that this doesn’t seem like a big deal. If you have fine sand on your hardwood floors, however, this might be an issue for you, as one review noted.

While you can’t turn off the beater brush roll on this particular model, it still seems to do a good job and doesn’t scatter bits like kitty litter on bare floors if you have it on the right height setting. If you need a cleaner where you can turn off the brush roll, you’ll need to spend a little more money and get something like the Shark Navigator or go a step above that and get the Shark Rotator (which also has a headlight). They are about the closest in this price range to have that option.

The Bottom Line

In reports from consumers, the UH70120 gets 4 out of 5 stars, a really good rating especially from a vacuum on the cheap end of the price spectrum. While it doesn’t have many of the features of a more expensive model, it does have good suction, and in user reviews, people love the auto cord rewind feature.

Overall, for under $$$, this machine is a great investment if you’re on a budget and can’t afford something on the higher end. In fact,
